CCFY 2014 Highlights

Dear Friends,

At this time of the year we want to share our gratitude to the many who have supported our work towards our mission of juvenile justice reform and community capacity building.  We count ourselves fortunate to have the support of many tremendous people, including individual donors, foundations, community partners, and system partners.

This year has been a year of many successes!  We are happy to announce CCFY’s grassroots efforts have led to community reinvestment that has impacted all five boroughs, specifically through funding from the NYC Department of Probation for the Parent Peer Support program. We have included in this letter the inspiring story of one of the parents, Isaliz, who participates in this program. Isaliz shares how the program helped her strengthen her family and keep both of her children out of the juvenile justice system. We have also included Tyree‘s brave and transformational story as a participant in CCFY led NYC ARCHES program.

This year we also released the official results of an independent evaluation of our South Bronx Community Connections (SBCC) demonstration project.  The SBCC model works: researchers found a statistically significant reduction in recidivism among SBCC youth participants.  The research study has opened dialogue among many system stakeholders to reform the current juvenile justice system by prioritizing grassroots interventions, building community capacity, and implementing positive youth development approaches.  We invite you to read the Technical Report and Companion Guide to learn more about our innovative work in this area.

At a national level, CCFY is training system stakeholders and community agencies in San Diego, California, and Charleston, North Carolina.  We are providing expert technical assistance in these jurisdictions to support them in replicating the kinds of community-driven alternative-to-incarceration programs CCFY has planted here in New York City.

CCFY is thankful to all of our supporters, and it is our hope that as you read about CCFY’s accomplishments and impact you will consider giving a donation. Your investment in CCFY ensures that we can continue our work to build community capacity for juvenile justice reform. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Happy holidays and have a Happy New Year!!

Sincerely,
CCFY
