Community Connections for Youth’s Family and Community Organizer, Jeannette Bocanegra, attended her first meeting of the Juvenile Justice Oversight Board (JJOB) for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) on September 23rd of this year.

New York is one of only two states left in the nation that automatically charges any youth who has committed any crime as an adult at the age of 16.

On January 11, 2014, CCFY’s Ruben Austria and Kyung Ji Rhee of the Center for NuLeadership appeared on WBAI’s On The Count! weekly radio program.

Lee was 14 when police arrested her at a South Bronx house party three years ago and charged her with trespassing. That was her first arrest. She was arrested three more times before graduating from high school, for similar charges and for fighting in school.
